How I contour my face

Hi guys,
So, today I decided to do a 'How I contour my face post'. I am not sure if everyone will be interested in it but I thought I'd just show you guys how I do it. There are alot of ways you can contour. People use sculpting creams, bronzer, darker foundation colours and the duo contour kits you get. I don't use any of those because in my experience the shades don't match me or they don't compliment my skin tone or it's a little too orange based. After thinking about it for ages I finally found a way which works for me and my skin tone really very well. I love the look of a contoured face. Not heavily contoured but quite a natural sculpted finish. So I'll now share how I contour and create a little definition and cheek bones (which we all want!).
I use two brushes and two face products which are not exactly for contouring.
To contour I actually use a face powder that is about 3 shades darker than my skin tone. The reason why I use face powder is because it doesn't have that orange tinge to it and because my skin complexion is quite fair (not pale) with both yellow and pink tones. Hpow annoying is that?! It blends into my skin like a powder would and looks alot more natural and subtle. I use the 17 pure finish mineral foundation powder which is really lovely. It's smooth and buildable but nicely pigmented. I use a blush brush that I got in a 17 brush set. It's quite dense and small in size and is a little hard which is why I use that. Normally, I don't think anyone would like a brush like that but I think when a brush is slightly stiff, you can create a nice streak or line along the hollows of your cheek. I then blend that line out using my Real Technics expert face brush which is alot softer and is angled which is helpful. And that's it. I now have a natural contoured face that doesn't look orange or too prominent. The last product is not something I use all the time but occasionally. The sleek limited edition blush in honour that came out with the 2012 Olympics collection is a lovely bronze colour; almost like a very deep rose gold. It's a blush but as a blush it doesn't flatter me at all because its too dark. So I had to find a way to use and that was to use it above my contour like a contour highlight because of the shimmer to it but not your like your typical highlighter.  It's so pigmented so I only use a little bit of it and add that above the contour line and it looks lovely.
So this is how I contour and hope you found it helpful!

What products do you use to contour?
I would love to know!

  7. Our technique is similar! I love using a darker powder too instead of bronzer! It looks more like a shadow. I save bronzer for summer now, really just to give me that extra hint of colour.
    Lovely post!
