Festive Makeup

I really like the fact that autumn/winter/Christmas allows you to be a little more daring with your makeup. Bold lips and dramatic eyes look amazing in winter time and also for a very festive month so I created this collage as my entry for the House of Fraser blogger competition. You have to create your favourite party look which I really enjoyed! It's something a little different from all the fashion collages and it sounded great. My influence for the look was the image below which is a jewellery advertisement featured in Vogue back in 2006. I found this image in an old copy about 3 years ago and I kept it because I was in love with the makeup! So when I got the email about this competition and read about it where they mentioned they'd love to see a 'head turning' look, this image came to my mind immediately and I created the makeup collage 'inspired' from it.
Festive makeup

Step 1- After prepping your skin, apply some Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H foundation. This is the only high end foundation that I really like! It gives flawless coverage but not the heavy feel, a lovely glow, and is matte which works perfectly with bold lips. I would use sigma buffing brush for a flawless finish.

Step 2- I love a good old smoky eye because it suits all complexions and eye colours and is very party appropriate too. Taking the UD 24/7 glide on pencil in bourbon, a copper colour, apply all over the lid and blend with a fluffy brush. Blending is key. This acts as a base and over this as an eyeliner apply perversion, a black, and slightly blend that out too making sure it doesn't have a harsh edge. I personally love using just eye pencils for a quick smoky eye and these UD pencils will stay on for the whole night hence the name. If you find that eye pencils are quite hard for doing a look, just take your hairdryer and give the pencil tip some heat which will make it melt a little and make it alot easier to blend. To intensify the look but with some softness, apply some Guerlain Terracotta lossse Kohl powder in Noir. Because its powder its alot softer.

Step 3- No party look is complete without some falsies! To add more drama, I picked the Shu Uemura smoky layers lashes. Isn't the name perfect for the look? After applying the lashes, follow with the Diorshow blackout mascara to open up your eyes.

Step 4- We need to keep the cheeks subtle for which I picked the Shiseido multi shade enhancer in terracotta glow. This will act as blush and a highlight and give a lovely glow without overpowering the eyes.

Step 5- You can't go wrong with bold lips during this time and for that apply the YSL Candy volupte lipstick in 05; a gorgeous burgundy colour with gloss and shine that complements the matte eyes and foundation.

Step 5- To complete the look, its time to do our nails! I chose a Nails inc polish in Victoria; a deep cherry shade and Deborah Lippmann's I love the nightlife which is a graphite glitter polish. A festive look is not complete without glitter! Add glitter accents and you are now ready!

I hope you liked this post and leave your links if you entered this competition!
